Compete for $5,000 prize in financial regulation competition
Announcements | Jan 08, 2015 | Gabelli School of Business
Interested in how the financial services industry is changing on the regulatory front?
Curious what a career in compliance might be like?
Would you like a chance to win $5,000 and a free trip to Washington, D.C., to meet with representatives from the Federal Reserve, U.S. Treasury and the Securities and Exchange Commission?
Then sign up to compete in the third annual ROSE Program Competition! The deadline for applications is Friday, Jan. 16.
Instructions for signing up are below. First, a bit about what the ROSE Program is:
The Regulatory Outreach for Student Education Program immerses students in issues of regulatory oversight in the U.S. financial services industry, and in doing so, helps them to appreciate the subtleties of the ongoing debate between industry professionals and policymakers within the federal government.
The ROSE Program is associated with the Center for the Study of Financial Market Evolution, founded by Fordham University alumnus and Securities Services Hall of Fame inductee Ed Blount (FCRH ‘69).
Each team will work to produce a comment letter on an issue currently before regulators.
The winning team will take home $5,000, win the opportunity to present its findings at one of the regulatory agencies, and see its comment letter featured publicly on the agency’s website. All competing teams will visit Washington, D.C., in spring 2015 to meet with professionals in various government agencies.
Participating in the ROSE Program is a great résumé-builder and a chance to build a network in our nation’s capital.
Sign up today either as a team or as an individual looking for a team! One team from each school — Gabelli School of Business, Fordham College at Rose Hill, Fordham College at Lincoln Center and the graduate school of business — will be fielded to compete head-to-head against each other for the grand prize. The faculty adviser for the competition is Associate Professor Benjamin Cole of the Management Systems Area.
To sign up, e-mail your CV to Linda Agnew at lagnew@fordham.edu. Make sure to include which school you hope to represent in the competition — GSB, FCRH, FCLC or graduate school of business — and whether you are already part of a team or not.
