The School was One of Only Four Educational Institutions in the World to be Chosen as a Meeting Place for Delegates Who are Unable to Travel to the Main Summit in Manchester, UK
Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business was recently chosen to serve as the host for One Young World’s 2022 Summit USA Hive in New York City. The School was one of only four educational institutions around the world in the USA, Japan, Brazil, and South Africa to be given this prestigious designation.
The One Young World 2022 Manchester Summit is taking place in Manchester, England on September 5-8, and is convening more than 2,000 of the brightest young leaders from every country and sector, who are working to accelerate social impact both in-person and digitally. During the four-day event, delegates from 190+ countries are being counseled by influential political, business, and humanitarian leaders such as Ban Ki Moon, former UN Secretary General; Sir Bob Geldof, singer, songwriter, author and political activist; and Ibtihaj Muhammad, Olympic fencer and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, entrepreneur and activist—among so many others—to harness the knowledge and skills needed to become impactful change makers.
While many delegates and ambassadors have been able to attend the Summit in person in the UK, those who cannot, have attended through the “Summit Hives,” participating in portions of the Summit in Manchester through live streaming, while also focusing on a theme that engages them onsite through a panel discussion and a workshop.
The NYC Hive, took place on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus in New York City. Participants at the NYC Hive were able to live stream with attendees in Manchester, and Barbara M. Porco, PhD, CPA, CFF, associate dean of graduate studies and professor of accounting, addressed the participants in New York and the UK.
“We are delighted that the Gabelli School of Business has been chosen to serve in a capacity that allows young people to convene and to focus on pressing global issues and Social Ethical Leadership—a theme that is closely aligned with the mission of this School,” she commented.
