The Gabelli School earned a Top 10 global ranking for the first time
The Gabelli School of Business was ranked 9th globally (2nd in the United States) in Corporate Knights 2020 Better World MBA Ranking. The school earned this Top 10 position thanks to an increase in core courses and faculty research related to sustainability, and high levels of gender and racial diversity among its faculty.
As both an Ashoka Changemaker Campus and champion institution in the U.N.’s Principles of Responsible Management Education initiative, the Gabelli School’s social innovation network extends to other global institutions and thought leaders who are on the forefront of using business, education, and technology to meet the needs of humanity.
“Every MBA should be a sustainable MBA, and the Better World business schools are showing us how,” said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights.
To determine the ranking, Corporate Knights evaluated 150 business schools, including all of the 2020 Financial Times top 100 Global MBA programs. Programs are evaluated across five key performance indicators: the number of sustainability-focused articles in peer-reviewed journals and citations, the number of core courses that incorporate sustainable development topics, research institutes and centers devoted to sustainable development issues, and faculty gender and racial diversity in the school.
In 2019, Corporate Knights uncovered a noticeable uptick in faculty research and core courses centered on sustainability – the trend continues in 2020. These developments reflect ongoing demand from students to train for meaningful work in the business sector, as well as demand from employers to help solve the serious social and environmental problems that threaten the future of businesses.
