Gabelli School to offer new MS in Management program

The Gabelli School of Business is launching a new master’s degree program, focusing on management, in the Spring 2017 semester.
The MS in Management program will offer students the essentials of business in a one-year program, rather than the two years it takes to get an MBA, said Dawn Lerman, the associate dean for graduate studies.
The program is accepting students and will offer courses beginning in the spring, but “we’re doing a full-court press to enroll a robust class beginning in Fall 2017,” Lerman said.
Typically, the broad experience of business is taught to MBA students, who are required to have a background in business and work experience. The MS, however, is targeted to students who may have recently completed their undergraduate studies or to those who do not have the time to pursue an MBA, Lerman said.
Required courses include Business Strategy, Leading People and Organizations, Operations and Management, Statistics and others.
Lerman said that there are extras to the program that make it unique among MS in Management programs in the United States.
“What’s particularly nice about this program is that it gives students all of those business essentials in a small package, but it also gives them an opportunity to add a couple of extra courses to ensure they come out with a bit of a specialization,” she said.
Those interested in the program should review the information on the graduate admissions page and contact admissionsgb@fordham.edu with questions.
