The Empress Dowager Cixi. Rock on...

The Empress Dowager Cixi. Rock on…

Are you low on talent but high on determination when it comes to dance?

The Fordham Business Analytics Society and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association are looking for between 60 and 80 business school students to perform in a musical, The Fast & Furious Times of Cixi.

This is your chance to dance.

Cixi was the empress dowager who ruled China for more than 40 years until her death in 1908. The dance, however, will feature rock music—stuff that you can dance to. Possible songs include everything from “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones to “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. You’ll practice with the group, and then perform on June 5 at the Pope Auditorium on the Lincoln Center campus.

The organizers stress that no previous dance experience is needed, but dedication to the production is a must. Two-hour rehearsals, once a week, are mandatory. Further practice in private is also required. Professional choreographers will help the students learn the dances.

Auditions for all interested students in Fordham’s schools of business will be held the first week of February. The deadline for registration is Feb. 2.
