Fordham community makes impact at U.N. sustainability events

Members of the Fordham University community made their presence known in the international community this month during events designed to discuss and promote sustainable business and development.

Provost Stephen Freedman led a team of faculty and administrators at a joint session of the United Nations Global Compact and the United Nations Forum on Principles of Responsible Management Education in June. Freedman, along with Associate Professor Michael Pirson, Associate Professor Frank Werner and Gabelli Sustainability Initiatives Coordinator Carey Weiss also attended the session.

The global compact has a membership of more than 8,000 businesses, and the forum includes more than 600 academic institutions.

A number of Fordham students also volunteered at the U.N. forum, which was attended by 400 people from more than 80 countries at 1 Chase Plaza. Those attending discussed increasing collaboration to create greater impact in transforming management education toward sustainability principles.
