This year’s schedule for the Gabelli School’s annual International Business Week (IBW) has just been announced. It will feature three exciting virtual sessions and two site visits that will focus on diverse aspects of global business, and will feature speakers and panelists from across five continents!
The theme for this year is “International Business: The Jesuit Perspective.” For the duration of the week (Monday, April 8 – Friday, April 12), students will have the opportunity to learn about international business, economics, politics, and culture. To amplify the international focus of the programming, the lobby of Hughes Hall will be decorated with flags representing countries around the world.

U.N. Headquarters Group Visit and Guided Tour
Monday, April 8 • 2:15 – 4:15 p.m. EDT
This International Business Week session will feature an immersion and guided tour of the United Nations headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, which has been the official headquarters of this international governing body since 1951. The complex consists of the Secretariat, the Conference Building, and the General Assembly.
The visit will be led by Lauren Page, president, International Business Association; and Hanaa Fawzy, assistant dean of global initiatives and partnerships.

The Role of Business in Managing Carbon Stocks in Mangrove Ecosystems
Tuesday, April 9 • 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. EDT

This International Business Week session will feature Vikrant Vijay Patil, Ph.D., assistant professor of sustainability, XIM University, the Jesuit University of Bhubaneswar, India. He will discuss climate change, blue carbon, and the role of businesses in salvaging and managing the Mangrove ecosystems.
Professor Patil will be joined in conversation with Session Chair Hanaa Fawzy, assistant dean of global initiatives and partnerships.

International Business Careers: A Personal and Professional Journey
Gabelli School Alumni Discuss Challenges and Opportunities of a Global Business Career
Wednesday, April 10 • 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. EDT

This International Business Week session will feature two Gabelli School MBA/EMBA alumni—Susan Reed (GABELLI ‘09), senior director, risk management, Moody’s Analytics, London, UK; and Ali El Mahdy (GABELLI ‘16), CEO, Kortech, Cairo. They will focus on the topic of international business careers in the Jesuit context of responsible business. This session is co-sponsored with the ILCGB (Integrated Learning Community for Global Business).
Reed and El Mahdy will be joined in conversation with Session Chairs Steve Najdzionek, assistant dean for transfers; and Francis Petit, Ed.D., associate dean of global initiatives and partnerships.

This session will feature three Jesuit business deans and will discuss Jesuit management education and its potential impact on International Business.

New York Stock Exchange – Group Visit, Guided Tour, and Closing Bell
Friday, April 12 • 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. EDT
This final International Business Week session will feature a guided tour and an opportunity to experience the Closing Bell at the NYSE, the world’s largest stock exchange by market capitalization.
The visit will be led by Remy Blaire (GABELLI ‘22), News Anchor, FINTECH TV; and by Beatriz Picard, L.L.M., assistant dean for international student support.
