About Smart Woman Securities
Smart Woman Securities | Aug 22, 2005 | admin
Smart Woman Securities (SWS) is a not-for-profit organization focused on investment education for undergraduate women. Through instructive seminars, mentoring initiatives, and meetings with successful investors such as Warren Buffett, SWS provides resources upon which women can build greater knowledge of the financial markets. Fordham University was the first school outside of the Ivy League to found an SWS chapter and is proud to continue its strong tradition with the organization. While the group was created to give women broader exposure to investing and finance knowledge, men are more than welcome at all events held by Fordham SWS.
SWS’s fall semester gets off to a quick start with the beginning of its annual fall seminar series, presented by high-level professionals from J.P. Morgan, PWC, Penn Mutual, and other notable firms. The seminars begin with a foundation of investment and markets knowledge, followed by more in-depth looks at financial statements analysis and the secrets to a successful stock pitch. Once the seminars have come to a close, new SWS associates have the opportunity to present their stock pitches to a panel of successful Fordham alumni and even compete against national competitors for enviable prizes from J.P. Morgan.
Alongside the fall seminar series and capstone investment pitch project, SWS associates can participate in a host of incredible opportunities. SWS National connects successful applicants from each chapter with their own personal mentor from J.P. Morgan, and these associates join their mentors for an incredible day of learning at the J.P. Morgan NYC offices each year. Associates can also continue their investment learning with year-round research teams. In addition, SWS members can join in our Upperclassmen/Underclassmen mentoring program, enjoy special consideration from J.P. Morgan for potential employment, and apply for an exclusive weekend with Warren Buffett and other executives in the spring!
