General Inspection Programme

Société Générale is a leading financial-services provider in the Eurozone that is organized around three dynamic core businesses: French Networks, International Retail Banking and Corporate & Investment Banking. These are supported by two complementary businesses, Specialized Financing & Insurance and Private Banking/Global Investment Management & Services, that enable the company to provide a comprehensive range of services to its clients.

The General Inspection Department, which works on behalf of General Management, conducts audit and advisory missions over all Société Générale activities in France and abroad. The department’s key roles are to:

1. Conduct internal audit and advisory missions in fields such as development strategy, the degree of risk management, human-resource organization and management, information systems and managing IT projects, quality of administrative management and accounting.

2. Propose added-value recommendations to top management, providing an assessment of risk management in the company as a driving force for activity change in the short, medium or long-term by formulating operational recommendations.

3. Take part in the group’s strategic projects evaluating targets for acquisition in France and abroad, preliminary studies before implementation of major projects, internal reorganizations, etc.

The General Inspection Programme includes six months of initial training; presentation of the Société Générale Group and its core business; specific training in financial analysis, risk management for credit institutions, audit techniques and other matters; a “field” internship in Société Générale retail-banking activities; participation in missions with a flexible workload, support by experienced inspectors; and induction facilitated by a mentoring system involving inspectors.
