Congratulations to Professor Michael Pirson for winning a 2014 best paper award from the Academy of Management.
“Reconnecting Management Theory and Social Welfare: A Humanistic Perspective – Dignity as the Missing Link,” co-written with Claus Dierksmeier of the Global Ethic Institute in Germany, will be published in the Best Paper Proceedings of the 2014 Academy of Management meeting in August.
In their research, the authors propose that human dignity has been erased from economics and management despite its importance to society. Infusing management theory with human dignity, they suggest, will improve management theory in general, align it with the public interest and strengthen its connection to the creation of social welfare, thus improving society’s well being.
