Welcome the Management Society to the dance floor

Faculty Management Society | Sep 26, 2012 |

The Gabelli School of Business has a whole new club. This month marks the debut of the Management Society.

Let’s be honest: When you pick up The Wall Street Journal, is it always easy to fully comprehend everything you read there? The Management Society aims to increase students’ knowledge of management so that the big issues and opinions in business become clear.

Advised by Professor Nathan Lupton and led by club president Samantha Carey (GSB ’13), the society will meet regularly to talk about current topics in business. In doing so, students will hone their decision-making skills and exercise their critical-reasoning abilities. Additional benefits of membership include:

  • Small-group enrichment seminars on management topics
  • The chance to connect with students in management clubs at other universities
  • Networking events with local business leaders
  • Involvement from Gabelli School of Business alumni who hold prominent management roles

“This is our inaugural year, and so our first priority is recruitment,” Professor Lupton said. A kick-off event is planned for October — watch the Gabelli School-wide Facebook page for details on place and time — but in the meanwhile, interested students are welcome to pre-enroll via the Management Society’s Facebook group.

— What should interested students do to join?

Students should join our Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/groups/514891268524386/?ref=ts .  We will keep all members updated on events as they arise and we are always interested in hearing suggestion and feedback from members.
