Success story: Christina Mozeleski lands international marketing job

Job-hunting in this economy is not easy.

So when Christina Mozeleski (GSB ’12) found her first full-time position after graduation — as the international sales coordinator for International Data Group’s IDG TechNetwork — it was an even greater victory that it perfectly matched her undergraduate experience.

Chrissy’s time at the Gabelli School of Business had an international flavor from early on. As a sophomore, she started working in Fordham’s International and Study Abroad Programs office, where she used her insider’s perspective to preview her options for global learning.

She first headed overseas to the Gabelli School’s program in London for the summer before her junior year. There, she sought out courses that she couldn’t take in quite the same way in New York: a British Theater elective and a special Europe-centric version of Principles of Marketing. Professor Luke Kachersky, teaching on location in London that summer, showed Chrissy and her classmates the fundamentals of the marketing profession and explained how they play out differently in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Marketing, Chrissy realized as soon as she got home, would be the concentration she’d add to her business administration major.

She wasn’t home for long. In the spring of her junior year, she ventured to Universitat Ramón Llull in Barcelona, Spain, where she took classes with students from many other countries. Upon her return to Rose Hill as a senior, Fordham’s study-abroad office re-hired her as a study-abroad advisor. She also completed her Spanish language proficiency and other requirements for the G.L.O.B.E. international business specialization.

After graduating from the Gabelli School in May 2012, Chrissy wanted a marketing job — and if it could have an international element, all the better. Many applications, many interviews and much perseverance led her to IDG TechNetwork, which represents more than 500 independent web sites worldwide. Her business card now reads “international sales coordinator”: proof that her Gabelli School education took her where she wanted to go.

“I feel like I am the perfect fit for the position because of my international experience and marketing background,” Chrissy said. “I’m very excited about this opportunity and feel like I owe a debt of gratitude to Fordham for molding me into a well-rounded professional who can take on the international market.”

Congratulations, Chrissy, from all of us at the Gabelli School of Business!
