Take our Tokyo study tour, come back as photographer/author
Communications/Media Management Marketing | Nov 11, 2013 | Nicole Gesualdo
Imagine showing up to job interviews with a published book that includes your own work.
That option will be open to the small group of students who travel to Tokyo, Japan, over spring break 2014 on a brand-new, pioneering study tour.
“Offered by the Gabelli School’s marketing area and guided by Professor Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock of Fordham’s visual arts department, students will fan out across Tokyo with smartphones to gather their own data on the topic of “Marketing and the City.”
The class will analyze their photos and observations, which will be produced as a bound book upon return to New York.
Daily journeys will include the cosmopolitan Shinjuku area; Shibuya, the city’s capital of youth culture; Harajuku, where the fashion industry reigns; and the temples and shrines of Asakusa. The study tour experience will offer an education in branding, sensory marketing, architecture, design, photography and urban planning.
Before you travel to Japan, you and your classmates will prepare via class sessions that include lectures, discussions and film screenings.
