Thursday, Nov. 8: Marketing career events galore

If you’ve got any interest in marketing — if it might be a career path, or a major or minor, or even if you simply like a few of your marketing courses — there’s an array of events this Thursday that you should attend.

November 8 is this semester’s marketing career day. Advertising agencies, sports marketers, magazine publishing executives and communications company reps will be on campus to talk to you about breaking into marketing.

Presenter: BBDO advertising agency
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Hear from Paul Reilly, executive vice president and senior director at BBDO New York, who is responsible for the Campbell’s Soup and the Grocery Manufacturers Association accounts. Over the course of his 20-year career, spanning various agencies, Mr. Reilly has handled clients such as AIG Insurance, Amstel Light, Chase Bank, Citibank, Visa, Fisher Price and the CBS Television Network.

Hearst is one of the world’s largest publishers of monthly magazines, with 20 U.S. titles and more than 300 international editions.

Presenter: Linda Luca — “The Mad [Men] World of Advertising and Media Agencies”
Time: 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Linda Luca, a former executive vice president and group managing director at the advertising agency McCann New York, has more than 20 years of experience in advertising and media. She has managed accounts that include Unilever, Major League Baseball, Acuvue, Lowes Home Improvement and Black&Decker. She will discuss the world of advertising and media and give students advice on how to succeed in it.

Dominick Sampogna, a strategic account executive, will discuss sales and marketing at AT&T Telecommunications and talk about the company’s Executive Leadership Program and entry-level sales opportunities.
