Vote for Fordham’s Compass Fellow finalists for Kenneth Cole grants

Corinne Logan, Phil Sweeney and Nick Makarov & Joe Halpin hold three of the six Compass Fellowship finalist spots for Kenneth Cole grants. They were selected from among 220+ fellows across the country. Winners will be announced on April 5 during Shift Series, the annual conference of The Compass Fellowship in Washington, D.C.

Finalists were chosen based upon their awareness of the problem they are trying to solve, the sustainable model for their venture and their plan to use the Kenneth Cole Grant to make tangible progress. The program supports young entrepreneurs working on ventures that embody “conscious consumption.” Fashion designer and social activist Kenneth Cole will award four $2,500 grants to Compass Fellows.

Corinne Logan‘s Pumpstash compression shorts are designed to be a comfortable and secure way to hold insulin pumps for diabetics on the move.
Nick Makarov and Joe Halpin propose SamePage, an application that helps students synthesize complex current events using timelines, infographics, and glossaries rather than the traditional article format.
Phillip Sweeney‘s Recessive Jeans is a socially aware brand of colored jeans that supports the research/awareness efforts for genetic disorders such as Down Syndrome and Marfan Syndrome where the proceeds from the sale of specific colors of jeans goes toward the cause that the color represents.
