Lauren Teske’s new job as a research executive at the Flamingo Group, an international brand consultancy, gives her two things she was looking for straight out of college: challenge and variety.

The Flamingo Group’s primary focus is “qualitative research, so I will be working on teams to uncover opportunities and solve challenges that clients are facing in the market through the use of focus groups, in-depth interviews, ethnography … and subsequent analysis,” Teske said.

A 2015 graduate of Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, Teske comes to the Flamingo Group with a degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. And the day-to-day changes in her assignments are attractive. One day, she explained, she may be focusing on a chocolate bar; the next, a new perfume.

“Doing this work requires one to be very curious about different products, industries, people and cultures,” the Evanston, Ill., native said. “It’s an exciting challenge, and I look forward to jumping into it.”

Teske had been following the company for a year, and, when working in a previous internship, she connected with a Flamingo employee and applied for an internship. She worked there during the fall and spring of her senior year, and then was accepted for a full-time position at the company in March.

Her internship experiences at Fordham made all the difference, she said.

“I don’t think I would have landed my dream job if it hadn’t been for Fordham’s push for internships in New York City,” she said.
