Not every college graduate can realize a career dream when entering the workforce.

Bailey Link, a 21-year-old Gabelli School of Business senior, will be doing just that when she starts her job as a middle-market credit analyst within specialized industries at J.P. Morgan in 2016.

“J.P. Morgan has been my dream company since freshman year,” Link said.

Link’s clients will be companies with revenues between $500,000 and $2 billion.

“Basically what I’m doing is putting together risk-grading packages for the banking side of the commercial bank – advising them on how risky or credit-worthy our clients are and what kind of pricing we should apply to whatever financing services we’re offering them,” Link said.

A finance major with a secondary concentration in value investing, Link said she always has wanted to do internal company analysis. She enjoys looking at financial statements and seeing how healthy a company is.

The Morristown, N.J., resident, had a 10-week internship with J.P. Morgan this summer, a position she found on CareerLink. She had her initial interview at Fordham and then participated in a “super day” at the company, where she interviewed with a number of employees.

Link said her finance and accounting classes at Fordham were helpful in getting her new job, even though accounting is not her field.

“We wouldn’t actually be accountants, but we have to look at the financial statements and know how they work and know what terms mean,” she said.
