Success story: UBS recruits Jane Gannon as summer intern

Success Stories | Aug 04, 2014 |

Jane GannonJane Gannon (GSB ’16) has spent her summer learning about the operations and culture of a financial services firm from the inside out, courtesy of an internship she landed in the compliance department at UBS.

“Being a compliance intern is something different than your typical finance internship,” said the Long Island native. “It adds a degree of diversity to your résumé and helps you to stand out in the financial world.”

Jane was invited to interview at the UBS Super Day over Spring Break and received an offer two weeks later. She was among eight sophomores in a pool of more than 80 UBS interns, most of whom are seniors.

As the ten-week program winds down, Jane says the experience gave her a great primer working within UBS’ corporate culture and has helped her narrow her career plans toward a position in the financial services field. With concentrations in Finance, Marketing and International Business, she looks forward to a fall semester abroad in the Gabelli London Program where she’ll focus on marketing.

The UBS internship follows two others on Jane’s résumé: one at delivery.com and one at a startup in Manhattan.

At Fordham, Jane is actively involved with Smart Woman Securities, the Rose Hill Society and is vice president of the Fordham Fight Against Breast Cancer Club.
