Success story: Tracy Ou to stay at Barclays full-time

Success Stories | Apr 19, 2013 |

Is Tracy Ou (GSB ’13) part of a very exciting trend?

She will head to Barclays Bank after graduation as a full-time staff member in equity research, and she won’t be alone.

Her classmate Mike Leithead (GSB ’13) is joining the equity research crew as well, and Matt Grover (GSB ’14) will be among their interns. Several Fordham alumni work in investment banking there, and Tracy has even met one other Gabelli School graduate in her own department.

Perhaps she and her colleagues will set the stage for an increasingly strong relationship between the Gabelli School and the bank.

Tracy’s own story with Barclays began in sophomore year, when she applied to the GenerationNext Diversity Recruiting program. She was one of 20 students nationwide selected for the program and received an assignment in equity research for summer 2011.

“I was placed in the managed care group with a fantastic team, and my big project was a forward-looking industry-wide survey of Fortune 1000 benefit managers,” she said. “I returned the next summer to intern with the retail hardlines group — an equally great team — and worked on several price studies and research reports for them.”

Tracy had two positive summer experiences, getting the sense that she was making a real contribution. “Almost every report I worked on was published and sent to clients,” she said.

It’s not surprising, then, that Tracy sought out a full-time engagement and got it. We will miss Tracy — who has been intensely involved in certain Gabelli School activities, including Beta Alpha Psi — but we are glad she will be among the fast-developing Fordham community at Barclays.
