For Aneesha Krishnakumar, her graduate-level data-driven marketing decisions class was just what the employer ordered.

Krishnakumar, who will graduate from the Gabelli School of Business with a Master of Science in Marketing Intelligence degree this summer, has landed a job as a senior business systems consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C.

“The class that helped me the most was Data-Driven Marketing Decisions, which was almost exactly what I’m going to be doing at my job,” Krishnakumar said.

Booz Allen has hired her to work with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency as a consultant.

“I’m going to be talking to the customers, finding out which aspects of our customer website they use, what’s helpful to them and then use those insights to provide the analysis and managerial implications to my seniors,” she said.

That work fits neatly in Krishnakumar’s graduate program. In the Data-Driven Marketing Decisions class, Assistant Professor Mohammad Nejad “would give us data sets that he would find or create and also he would teach us how to create our own data sets,” she said.

Students would then research a company’s background and analyze data. Based on results, they would find out the most profitable customers within a cluster and “provide managerial implications based on the results the data set would give us.”

Krishnakumar said that “All these different approaches were really impressive to my recruiters, and they liked that the program was so hands-on.”

The South Brunswick, N.J., native, who did her undergraduate work at Rutgers University, said she was drawn to Booz Allen by the support the firm gives to its new hires.

“Booz Allen is very good in terms of allowing growth for their employees,” she said.
