Success Stories | Aug 08, 2014 |

Kabir Mehta GSB’14 sees his future career as one that combines regulation, Processed with VSCOcameconomics and international relations. His acceptance into the MSc Regulation program at the London School of Economics and Political Science—specifically, in the environmental regulation stream—will make it possible to cultivate his interests in the greening of international society and environmental diplomacy.

Kabir got a taste of the opportunities offered at the London School of Economics and Political Science during the year he spent there as a Gabelli School junior.

“My academic pursuits transformed my educational and career goals and provided me with a blueprint for a discipline that excites me,” he said.

Through internships at both public and private firms, Kabir learned about the regulatory environments of the oil and finance industries.

“I learned about widespread regulatory issues surrounding transnational and interstate pipelines,” he said about his internship with Hindustan Petroleum in Mumbai, India. “I also became aware of the regulatory challenges that such a firm faces in trying to balance environmental protection with exploration and development of oil and gas resources.”

As a research analyst intern at Miami-based Blumberg Capital Partners, a private equity firm, Kabir saw the company “power its way through the rapidly changing financial regulatory environment” following the financial crisis.

Kabir looks forward to graduate study under the mentorship of renowned LSE faculty, and believes the master’s program will help him become a global expert in the field of regulation. He also anticipates that the degree will provide a stepping stone into a doctoral program that continues to foster his interests in environmental regulation and international affairs.

Best of luck, Kabir!
