Success story: Newsday Media Group chooses Alison Irving

Success Stories | Nov 15, 2011 |

Business administration major Alison Irving (GSB ’12) will graduate from Gabelli one semester early and head off in December to work on Long Island for the Newsday Media Group. Though we at Fordham are sorry to have five fewer months with Alison than we might have, we are thrilled that she has found a full-time position at one of Long Island’s most influential media organizations.

Alison’s role with Newsday will be event coordinator, and it grows directly out of her event management internship at the company, which she started in May 2011 and has continued through the fall semester. When her full-time work starts, Alison will work with the community affairs department to organize and execute community events.

Newsday Media Group is a significant force on Long Island, where it operates the only daily newspaper devoted in its focus to Nassau and Suffolk counties. Though the major New York City newspapers circulate on Long Island as well, many Long Island residents consider Newsday a go-to news source and value its closer relationship with Nassau and Suffolk communities. We at Gabelli wish Alison the best and hope that her Fordham business major and management concentration will serve her well there!
