Talking with … Juelly Lichtmann
Interviews | Oct 21, 2016 | Gabelli School of Business
Welcome to the newest installment of “Talking with,” a series that lets you get to know the Gabelli School faculty and staff a little better. Meet Juelly Lichtmann, assistant director of finance and administration.
How long have you worked at the Gabelli School of Business?
28 1/2 years.
What’s the best part of your workday?
Early morning around 7:00, when everything is quiet and nobody is in yet. I get a lot of things done with no interruptions.
Toughest part?
I leave at around 3:45 p.m., because I work without a lunch break, and people call me at 3:30 to get last minute things done. I usually stay and help them as much as I can, but if it is not urgent, I collect all the paperwork and get back to them early the next morning.
What is your greatest accomplishment in your time working at Fordham?
I consider my understanding and friendship with the faculty and staff, not only at the Gabelli School of Business, but also in other departments—such as the controller’s office and procurement—to be my greatest accomplishment. It is through understanding and friendship that I can find solutions to the various situations that come across my desk. It is also through understanding and friendship that other departments help guide me in the right direction.
Now that you are also a Gabelli School of Business parent, have you learned anything new about the school through this set of eyes?
Yes, definitely! My son is a sophomore and taking an Integrated Project course. I didn’t quite understand how students could possibly put all they learned in the various courses into one project. I saw, firsthand, how he and his group members worked, discussed, argued and agreed as to how their project should be presented. I didn’t have this experience when I was an undergrad student.
If you were an undergraduate student applying to Fordham, which program would you pick?
I would apply at the Gabelli School of Business, majoring in accounting.
