Professor: Some industries lag in using big data

Some sectors of the economy, such as healthcare, are several years behind the curve in understanding and using big data analytics to improve their standing, a Gabelli School of Business professor told The Economist Executive Education Navigator blog recently.
Professor RP Raghupathi, director of Fordham University’s Center for Digital Transformation, said in the article that data analysis can be expensive but valuable when it comes to providing insights that can change companies for the better.
“There are great opportunities here for companies to emerge as leaders – also for individual leaders to emerge,” Raghupathi said.
Understanding the value, however, is the first step, he said.
