A Gabelli student’s e-postcard from China

Global | Nov 16, 2010 |

The brilliance of a postcard lies in its union of a brief bit of text with a photograph that brings it all home. What follows is an electronic version of a postcard submitted by Sean O’Connor, a Gabelli School junior who is studying abroad in Beijing, China.

“Fifty-five ethnic minorities, 1.3 billion people, and the fastest-growing economy in the world — China is an exciting place to be studying abroad. Living in the Middle Kingdom for two months has been an incredibly rewarding experience, from spending Ramadan with a Uyghur family (a Muslim minority) to celebrating the Festival of the Moon with a group of local students. It certainly has been enlightening.”
