Jan. 14: Online career-search session for international students

Featured Events | Jan 09, 2015 |

unnamedInternational students seeking an edge in adjusting to both the university setting and U.S. job searches will be able to get some tips and information during an online forum being held on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

The web-based session, hosted by Judy Shen-Filerman, will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Shen-Filerman, the founder of Dreambridge Partners, has spoken to international students at Fordham University Schools of Business before during orientations.

Shen-Filerman believes that, despite challenges in student readiness, there are factors that can be controlled by universities and international students, leading to better outcomes in job searches.

Her online presentation will feature the following:

  • How acculturation success in the early months affect student confidence and job search efficacy.
  • Student engagement and attendance at career workshops and events.
  • Gaps in expectations between advisers and international students regarding preparation needs for job search success.

There will be time for questions.
