New York City’s five-borough Social Innovation Festival is making its Bronx stop at Fordham University on March 6, featuring discussions on sustainable economic growth through small business.
The event, which began with a Feb. 26 kickoff at the Center for Social Innovation in Chelsea, is designed to pursue entrepreneurial solutions to social and economic difficulties facing New York City, especially its underserved communities.
“Every day millions of New Yorkers face the painful reality of food scarcity, chronic unemployment, lack of access to quality healthcare, education, and adequate shelter,” said Monika Mitchell, the festival’s executive director. “According the Robin Hood Foundation, 45.6 percent of our city’s five boroughs live at or below poverty level. That’s a crime in itself – a social, economic, and environmental tragedy.”
The festival, partly sponsored by the Gabelli School of Business and the Fordham Foundry, will take place in the Campbell Commons on the Rose Hill campus from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets, which are free for Fordham students and staff, can be reserved here.
