The Gabelli School’s ever-popular Alumni/Student Supper Club — an ongoing program in which alumni take students out for small-group networking dinners — is back!

We are taking applications for the first dinner of the school year. The host will be John Donnarumma (GSB ’93), the worldwide CIO of GroupM, a media-investment management group that serves as the parent company to the agencies Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare, Catalyst and Xaxis. GroupM is the leading business of its kind worldwide, with a total market share of 32.7% (its nearest competitor, Publicis, has 23.1%) and 400 offices in 81 countries. Mr. Donnarumma has worked with the company for 17 years and looks forward to talking with Gabelli School students about GroupM’s full range of marketing functions.

John Donnarumma is the global Chief Information Officer of GroupM, a position he has held since late 2005. In this capacity, Mr. Donnarumma is responsible for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. He also provides vision and leadership for all aspects of information technology and systems within GroupM, which includes infrastructure, applications and development. Whether licensing or building systems, a primary goal of these areas is to deliver on new ways for employees to improve operational efficiency and user productivity. With impending changes in how media will be delivered and consumed, Mr. Donnarumma is also very involved with senior management at GroupM to ensure that they are well positioned to handle future shifts in the media landscape.
Mr. Donnarumma has been with the company for 17 years, holding a variety of senior IT leadership roles at GroupM or GroupM companies. His began his career in the media research group at Young & Rubicam in 1993, and when Y&R media became Mediaedge, he helped to consolidate technology and applications for them around the world. In 2000, Mr. Donnarumma became the CIO for Mediaedge:CIA, which was created following a merger with Chris Ingram Associates. He was appointed CIO for GroupM North America in 2002 and held that position until assuming the global CIO role three years later.
Mr. Donnarumma earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration degree from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business with a concentration in marketing and computer science. He serves on the Gabelli School’s alumni advisory board and is a frequent guest instructor at Fordham at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Mr. Donnarumma also is a member of several industry organizations, including the AAAAs, for which he is chair of the technology committee.
