Students attending Gabelli School of Business Dean Donna Rapaccioli’s Town Hall meeting this week probably weren’t expecting a quiz, but through a series of just-for-fun questions, they learned a little more about the school’s growth and commitment to excellence.

Pointing out the average SAT score of 1293 for this year’s freshman class, Rapaccioli said the number was indicative of the Gabelli School’s continual efforts toward quality-enhancement.

“[Our average] SAT really has been rising steadily over the last few years, so we’ve been able to improve quality and grow the size of the program, which usually is a difficult thing to do,” Rapaccioli said.

The event was held Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Daleo Hall.

Rapaccioli playfully awarded candy to those who guessed correctly on questions, even giving those who guessed wrong a second chance. The quiz served as an icebreaker with students, while informing attendees of the advantages of a unified business school and the new roles of several deans on campus, including the new associate dean of undergraduate studies, marketing Professor Lerzan Aksoy, and the new senior assistant dean for undergraduate studies, Greer Jason.

Dean Rapaccioli also took questions about everything from use of rooms by on-campus clubs to specifics on academic programs.

The hour-long session also served as an introduction for some students to a number of administrators and faculty members who were in attendance.
