Conference on Feb. 6 a must for budding entrepreneurs

If you’re looking for a little inspiration for your entrepreneurial efforts, a visit to Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus in February will give you what you need.

The Gabelli School of Business fifth annual Entrepreneurship Conference, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 6, features some of New York City’s leading entrepreneurs and venture capitalists sharing their stories with Fordham students.

Paul Berry, founder of RebelMouse and the former chief technology officer of the Huffington Post, will be a keynote speaker. Sarah Adler, the co-founder of Spoon University, will also speak.

New features for 2016 include breakout sessions. One will be a roundtable on what it’s like to work at a startup, led by several employees of top local ventures.

Other speakers will be Tony Shure, a co-founder of Chopt Salad; David Goldberg, a principle investor at Corigin Ventures; and Maria Melendez, founder of Embrace Her Legacy, who will speak about building a social business.

The conference is designed to expose students to non-corporate career options, said Christine Janssen, director of Fordham’s entrepreneurship program.

“There’s a lot going on and there’s tons of opportunity,” Janssen said of the business climate. This is a chance to hear about the entrepreneurial experience and its challenges.

“The stories,” she said, “are really good.”
