What is the soul of selling? Find out on Wednesday, February 26, when John Osborn, president and CEO of BBDO New York, discusses this hot topic at Fordham.
Mr. Osborn has marketed countless brands, including Foot Locker, FedEx and Visa, on behalf of BBDO, one of the world’s leading ad agencies. The New York Miracle campaign — an effort to lift New Yorkers’ spirits in the wake of 9/11 — is among his many accomplishments.
Mr. Osborn will share what it takes to create passionate, successful marketing campaigns at this event, sponsored by the Center for Positive Marketing.

About the speaker:
John Osborn has been president and chief executive officer of BBDO New York since 2004. Since he joined the firm in 1991, Mr. Osborn has led multi-disciplinary teams in the creation of powerful communication programs. He has been actively involved with many of the agency’s clients, including American Red Cross, Empire State Development, FedEx, Foot Locker, GE, Lowe’s, Mars, Monster.com and Visa. He was the principal architect of the agency’s integrated marketing efforts, expanding the agency’s service offerings to include digital marketing, direct, CRM, custom-publishing and more. He has been a key member of the team that has helped BBDO achieve recognition as “Agency of the Year” from industry trade publications such as Adweek, BtoB, Campaign and Ad Age.
Mr. Osborn has been equally active outside business, lending his talents to other causes. He is president of the board of directors of the Police Athletic League of New York, and serves as a board member of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and the New York Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Passionate about the importance of diversity in the industry, he has served as chairman of the board for the Center for Excellence in Advertising at Howard University, and he currently serves as chairman of the board of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). More recently, he accepted an invitation to serve as an Executive-in-Residence for Fordham’s Center for Positive Marketing.
Mr. Osborn was a recipient of a 2012 AdColor Award celebrating diversity champions in advertising, media, marketing and public relations. In 2003, he was inducted into the AAF Hall of Achievement, which honors people 40 years of age or under for their contributions to business. He has also been named to the Crain’s New York Business list of “40 under 40” as well as BtoB Magazine’s “Who’s Who in BtoB.”
John earned his bachelor’s degree at Dartmouth, for which he continues to serve as a member of its Alumni Association and Friends of Dartmouth Hockey Program.
