Dr. William Baker, author of Leading with Kindness: How Good People Consistently Get Superior Results, will advise students on becoming effective business leaders. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at 2:30 p.m.
Dr. Baker is responsible for introducing Oprah Winfrey to the world as a talk-show host and for launching five cable networks, including the Discovery and Disney Channels. As CEO of Educational Broadcasting Corporation, he raised more than $1 billion for the public station. Before that, he was president of Westinghouse Television and chairman of its cable and programming companies.
The recipient of seven Emmy awards, Dr. Baker is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2007, he was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’s management hall of fame and received the Mark Schubart Award from the Lincoln Center Institute. He has been inducted into Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame and the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Among Dr. Baker’s career honors are the Gabriel Personal Achievement Award, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Journalism Awards, and the 1987 Trustees Emmy Award, given in recognition of outstanding contribution to the advancement of television.
