‘Brandes on Value’ lecture to be held Sept. 9

If yes, a Sept. 9 presentation on the Rose Hill campus by the founder of a leading value-investment firm is a must-attend for you.

Charles Brandes, founder and chairman of Brandes Investment Partners, began his career in 1968 and founded his San Diego-based firm in 1974. The company managed $26.4 billion in assets as of the end of 2014.

The event is being held by the Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis.

Value investing is the practice of buying stocks that trade for less than their intrinsic values. The founding father of value investing is considered to be Benjamin Graham, a British economist and investor. High-profile disciples of the investment practice include Warren Buffett and Mario Gabelli, after whom Fordham’s business school is named.

“Don’t think about anything other than the actual, fundamental, economic value and long-term wealth production of the businesses you own,” Brandes has said. “Value investors separate this from short-term market movements.”

Brandes will appear at 5 p.m. in the Flom Auditorium in the Walsh Library. Seating is limited, and registration is required.
