About this Event

Kara Goucher was one of this country’s elite track stars. While a part of a running team sponsored by Nike, she saw the dark side of the sport. Coaches pushed the limits of anti-doping rules, creating a culture of abuse and a level of misogyny that was unreported unless she and other female athletes went public.

Kara will discuss:

• Challenges of being a female runner

• Why doping and coaching abuse were tolerated

• What can be done to change the culture of elite running

• The actions (or inactions) of track governing bodies regarding the issues of doping and coaching abuse

This event is open to all members of the Fordham Community and to the public.
