In-demand workers have it good: They can find jobs even in an unfriendly economy, and they can ask top-dollar salaries for their sought-after skills.

Who is in demand today? College graduates whose backgrounds merge business and technology. Known as business analytics, this is exactly the niche taught by Gabelli’s Information and Communication Systems area, which will hold a career information session next week:

Date: Thursday, March 1, 2012
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Location: Keating 104
Dress: Casual
Register: Log in to GSB Access using the red button at right and look for this in the “Events” menu.

At this session, titled “Business Analytics is Hot: Big Data Heats Up,” reps from IBM and the Gabelli Information and Communication Systems faculty will talk about why mastering data and technology, along with business fundamentals, can put you on the fast track to a great, high-paying job.

According to an article in The New York Times, a report by the research arm of the McKinsey Global Institute “projected that the United States needs 140,000 to 190,000 more workers with ‘deep analytical’ expertise and 1.5 million more data literate managers.”

How might you steer your Gabelli program to get in on that demand?

See you on March 1.
