The road was not easy — four rounds of interviews over the course of six weeks — but Karan Gupta (GSB ’14) emerged victorious at the end, the recipient of an investment banking analyst internship at European banking giant BNP Paribas.
Karan, a finance major with an economics minor, will be working in the bank’s global investment banking division, specifically within leveraged finance, which is under the capital markets umbrella. The group helps large corporations, such as Apple and Xerox, raise funds for debt and equity issues for a variety of transactions. BNP Paribas has operations all over the world, but Karan will conveniently be based, for starters, right here in its New York office.
The opportunity to work with a bank with serious global reach was what attracted Karan to the BNP Paribas internship.
“While their North American investment banking business may not be as large as JP Morgan or Goldman, BNP has an immense global presence, along with a great brand,” Karan said.
He hopes to eventually enter the two-year rotational analyst program, which would give him the chance to work in the London or Hong Kong office. Congratulations and best of luck, Karan!
