Event Recaps Finance | Nov 08, 2010 |

Gabelli students were fortunate to personally meet Christopher “Kip” Condron, the president and CEO of AXA Financial, before he began his recent lecture about his career path and the world of business. Among many subjects, Mr. Condron talked about his background and how being an entrepreneur gave him the strength needed to perform well in the “corporate machine.” Mr. Condron also provided his perspective on international business and answered student questions.

In addition to being president and CEO of AXA Financial, Mr. Condron is also chairman of the board, president, and CEO of its principal insurance subsidiary, AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company, and responsible for AllianceBernstein Corporation, its asset-management affiliate. At AXA Group, the parent company of AXA Financial, Mr. Condron is the global head of Life & Savings and Health and a member of the management committee.

Before joining AXA in 2001, Mr. Condron served as president and COO of Mellon Financial Corporation and as chairman and CEO of the Dreyfus Corporation. He previously was vice chairman and head of the private-client group at The Boston Company and, when Mellon acquired that firm, was named executive vice president of Mellon.
