Gabelli School brings on additional finance career coach

Areas of Study Finance | Nov 05, 2012 |

Mr. Hellmann will work out of the PPDC, seen here, on the third floor of Hughes Hall.

Finance students who need help getting internships and jobs have a new resource starting this Thursday, as the Gabelli School welcomes Rob Hellmann as an additional finance advisor.

Mr. Hellmann joins two other Personal and Professional Development Center staff members in providing guidance in finance: Lisa Henkoff has been a finance advisor here for several years, leading the Finance Scholars in addition to her one-on-one work with students, and Stefanie Gianakis recently joined the Gabelli School as well.

Students can make appointments with Mr. Hellmann and all other members of the PPDC staff through the student-login area of GabelliConnect. After he starts on Thursday, his schedule will settle into a routine of Tuesdays and Fridays.

An alumnus of Fordham’s Graduate School of Business Administration, Mr. Hellmann has taught career management at New York University and is a certified senior career and executive coach with the Five O’Clock Club, running weekly career-management groups of c-level executives. He has delivered seminars on career and employment topics at colleges and universities, professional associations, government agencies and nonprofits. One of his specialties is how job-seekers at all levels can use social media to their advantage.

Mr. Hellmann has more than 20 years of professional experience working for organizations such as American Express, JPMorgan Chase and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In addition to his MBA from Fordham, he holds a BS in economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton. His e-mail address is rob@hellmannconsulting.com.
