Two Bank of America execs to visit on February 13

The Fordham Finance Society will bring two executives from Bank of America Merrill LynchMartin Mauro, managing director and the head of private client fixed income research, and Mary Ann Bartels, head of technical and market analysis — to speak about current market issues and their own career experiences.

Here is some additional information about the speakers:

Martin J. Mauro is a managing director and the head of private client fixed-income research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, providing bond market and exchange-traded fund strategy recommendations to the financial advisors. He is the principal author of the Fixed-Income Digest and a variety of special publications, including the quarterly Preferred Securities report and the Guide to the State and Local Taxation of Municipal Bonds. He also contributed to a chapter in the recently published Handbook of Municipal Bonds. Mr. Mauro is a member of the Research Investment Committee, which provides equity, fixed-income and alternative investment strategies to the global wealth management financial advisors, and he contributes to the RIC Report. Previously, he was the manager of financial economics at Merrill Lynch. In that role, he was responsible for advising institutional clients and the fixed-income trading desk and sales force about the direction of the economy and about Federal Reserve policy. Mr. Mauro holds a bachelor’s degree from Fordham and a Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University. He has worked at Merrill Lynch since 1981, prior to which he worked at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C., and at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Mary Ann Bartels is head of technical and market analysis at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research.  She brings more than 20 years of investment experience to this role and is well known by clients and business partners for developing various proprietary models for equity pairs trading and for her sector, industry and stock selection. Ms. Bartels also is known for her extensive work on hedge funds. She is the lead analyst on research publications such as Market Analysis Comment, Hedge Fund Monitor and Monthly Chart Portfolio of Global Markets. Ms. Bartels rejoined Merrill Lynch in 1999, working with the European quantitative strategy team. She became head of global equity trading research strategy in 2001. Earlier in her career, Ms. Bartels held portfolio manager positions at Batterymarch in Boston and Avatar/Zweig Associates in New York. For six consecutive years, she has been voted to the Institutional Investor All-American Research team. She appears on CNBC and Bloomberg and often is quoted in publications that include The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Barron’s. Ms. Bartels earned bachelor of science and master of arts degrees in economics from Fordham and serves on several advisory boards, including one at Fordham.
