Small Biz Connector: “Career fair” for the entrepreneurial set

Career fairs are a familiar piece of the college landscape: Employers set up booths, students bring résumés, and the hiring ritual commences in earnest. Meet recruiters from Citigroup or Sony, leave with valuable job leads. Simple.

But what if there were a “career fair” for students with an entrepreneurial focus — those who want to work for startups or launch their own venture?

There is now! On March 21, 2012, Professor Christine Janssen-Selvadurai will debut the Small Biz Connector, a joint venture from Fordham’s Entrepreneurship Society and university Career Services. Dozens of entrepreneurs and small-business owners will be at Rose Hill to find bright Fordham undergrads for internships, short-term consulting projects or full-time positions.

The Small Biz Connector seeks participants on both sides of the table. Business owners are invited to participate as presenters, and students are invited to come to meet them. Entrepreneurs and students alike should mark their calendars:

Date: Wednesday, March 21, 2012
Time: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Location: Rose Hill campus, venue TBA (will be e-mailed to all registrants)

If you’re part of that population — or if you’re a business owner who wants to hire from within it — make this event your priority.
