9/18: Meet a Gabelli School culinary entrepreneur

Alumni , Areas of Study , Entrepreneurship , Featured Events Stories | Sep 15, 2012 |

When Brendan Marshall (GSB ’05) graduated from the Gabelli School of Business, he saw himself on Wall Street — and went there, working as an analyst in the M&A Advisory practice of Perella Weinberg Partners.

Seven years later, though, his interest in business has led him somewhere else: into the kitchen.

Brendan is the founder and CEO of Kitchit, an online business that connects party hosts with professional cooks who will come to their homes and do it all. Site users look enter the details of their party — where, when, how many people, and how much they’d like to pay. A chef from the site’s roster who agrees to the terms of the deal provides the party meal, serves it and cleans up, and Kitchit gets a cut of the total cost.

Launched in May 2010, Kitchit is growing steadily in both popularity and reach. It even was profiled in Bloomberg Businessweek late last year.

Come to this session of the Boardroom Series to hear from Brendan about how he and his partners, whom he met in graduate school in California, created this venture and are managing it to success:
