Success story: E&Y times two for Renee Morrison

Accounting Success Stories | Apr 24, 2013 |

Two internships are twice as nice.

Renee Morrison (GSB ’14) has won an internship at Ernst & Young not only for summer 2013, but also for summer 2014. The Launch Internship Program will make sure that 15 months from now, she will have had a double dose of experience at a Big Four firm.

“It is an honor to know that I have an internship lined up for both summers,” Renee said. “I feel I can focus more on my school work knowing that I have this opportunity available for me.”

It’s a well-deserved opportunity, and the Gabelli School of Business congratulates Renee on her placement!

Renee’s journey at E&Y will begin in its campus recruiting division, which will be her home for this coming summer. It’s a niche within accounting that Renee is considering for her future career, and she also realizes its potential value to her own job search.

“I want to learn what campus recruiters look for in candidates, as well as how they make their final decisions,” she said. “I feel this will help me to further improve on my skills for the overall recruiting process.”

A year from now, Renee will begin her second internship — this time, perhaps, in a client-service division of the firm. She said her initial summer experience will help her to figure out exactly which area she might put down as her first choice for phase two.

Renee will begin her first day at E&Y with a solid background: She already has been a global wealth management intern at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, a tax intern at Bessemer Venture Partners, and an accounts payable and finance intern at XO Group, a media and technology company whose primary market is couples planning their weddings. The Big Four, however, represents an exciting new frontier.

“I hear about the Big Four all the time,” Renee said, “but now it is my turn to gather my own thoughts and impressions.”
