Success story: Carolina Martinez gets E&Y internship

Accounting , Areas of Study , Students Success Stories | Dec 14, 2012 |

This summer, Carolina Martinez (GSB ’14) will be heading to work in Times Square — specifically, as an intern in the assurance services practice at Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young. Congratulations!

Raised in a business-focused home, Carolina developed an affinity for numbers. “I always found an interest in the financial transactions within a company,” she said. This preference led her toward an accounting major at Fordham, along with a secondary concentration in finance.

Carolina looks forward to assisting her Ernst & Young mentors in their work, which consists of reviewing firms’ financial documents and transactions to provide an assurance that companies are meeting accounting standards. She’ll be drawing on accounting knowledge learned in classes taught by Paul Lynch, Kelly Ulto and Stan Veliotis.

“I think the most exciting thing about working in the Big Four is the opportunity for growth and development,” Carolina said. “The Big Four offers us an opportunity to truly learn how to ‘walk the walk, and talk the talk.'”

All of us at the Gabelli School of Business wish Carolina the best of luck!
