Success story: Michelle Ciesielska to be KPMG advisory intern

Accounting , Areas of Study Success Stories | Jan 22, 2013 |

Having finished a Federal Reserve Bank of New York internship that lasted from summer through fall 2012, Michelle Ciesielska (GSB ’14) has lined up not one but two new opportunities.

The big one is a summer 2013 slot with KPMG’s advisory practice, in the transactions and restructuring group. Until then, though, Michelle will keep busy through tax season with an internship at Buchbinder & Tunick, starting at the end of January.

Michelle got interested in the Big Four by attending Gabelli School of Business career events. Then she learned more about the hiring process through Beta Alpha Psi. KPMG was the firm whose recruiters developed a relationship with Michelle over time, and they eventually offered her an internship that lined up with her goals.

“This group is what I am interested in pursuing as a career,” she said. “The work changes very often, and I like having variety in the tasks that I am assigned. This summer, I will have the opportunity to work on at least three or four deals with companies from different industries.”

Michelle will support her KPMG superiors in providing buy- and sell-side assistance for mergers and acquisitions. Some of her assignments might include helping with technical accounting analysis or examining new investment opportunities.

Good luck in your new experiences, Michelle!
