Students with their eyes on the Big Four — and students interested in the business of health care — may want to apply for this meeting of the Alumni/Student Supper Club: Your host, Maria Tiso, is an audit partner in KPMG’s New York healthcare and nonprofit practice and an alumna of the Gabelli School of Business.
Here is a little more information about Ms. Tiso:
Maria Tiso (GSB ’91) has more than 18 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to health care providers and nonprofit organizations. She has significant financial audit experience, as well as experience in the areas of financial-feasibility studies, capital financing, joint-venture transactions and third-party reimbursement. In addition, she has assisted health care organizations in developing or enhancing their methodology for analyzing reserves for contractual allowance discounts and bad debt allowances.
Ms. Tiso’s industry knowledge spans all facets of the health care industry, including acute care hospitals and health systems, home health agencies, long-term care facilities including nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and other not-for-profit organizations.
In addition to her daily responsibilities, Ms. Tiso makes audit update presentations to the Healthcare Financial Management Association, serves as a finance committee member of a nonprofit organization and is a member of the Leadership Council of the KPMG Network of Women. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Fordham and is a licensed CPA in the state of New York.
