Class of 2023 Specialized Masters and M.B.A. Award Winners Celebrate at the Gabelli School Graduate Awards Ceremony

On Tuesday, May 16, Gabelli School of Business Dean Lerzan Aksoy Ph.D., along with faculty members, student advisors, and academic area chairs acknowledged the Graduate Award winners, Dean’s List honorees, and Faculty Excellence Awards winners at this year’s Graduate Awards Ceremony. “The achievements of our students are a testament to the quality of the education they have received at the Gabelli School, as well as their dedication to pursuing academic excellence,” said Dean Aksoy. “They are a tremendous source of pride to all of us, and we wish them every success in their future endeavors.”
Each of the academic area chairs who attended, bestowed awards upon students who have demonstrated not only academic excellence, but who also have taken part in degree and services-related activities, earning the respect of their peers and professors. Chiddi Chidambaran, Ph.D., associate dean of research and faculty development, then awarded winners of the Program Excellence Awards for students with an outstanding academic record in their degree program who also are dedicated to advancing their chosen industry. Three additional awards recognized critical traits for success in business – the Entrepreneurship Award, the Student Leadership Awards, followed by the Exemplar Service Awards, which honored 23 individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their student leadership roles.
Barbara Porco, Ph.D, associate dean of graduate studies, read the names of the 2023 Dean’s List honorees before the three Capstone Award winners, Laura Capasso (Dean’s Award for Excellence), Shefali Gupta (Dean’s Award for Service), and Salonee Khosla (International Advancement Award), shared a few words with the audience. The ceremony concluded with the Dean’s Award for Faculty Excellence, which was bestowed upon adjunct faculty members Michael Deamer, Ankur Jaluria, and Denise Bennett; the Stanley Fuchs Award for Faculty Excellence, which was bestowed upon Sertan Kabadayi, Ph.D., and John Fortunato, Ph.D.; and the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence, which was bestowed upon
Benjamin Cole, Ph.D. and Peter Johnson, Ph.D.
