Ammonia has no carbon in the molecule, so just imagine if all transportation on the planet were fueled by ammonia. But is ammonia safe? What are its environmental consequences? And if ammonia is so appealing as a carbon-free fuel, why has it not been brought to market for this purpose? Steve Wittrig, who has an extensive background in a variety of alternative energy options, will present the history and a systems approach to the future potential of a molecule whose main market today is in the production of agricultural fertilizer.
Steve Wittrig, PhD in chemical engineering, Cal Tech, worked thirty years in the energy industry and was formerly Director of Advanced Technology, BP. He has been active in pursuing advanced technology solutions to energy challenges in Europe, the U.S., China, and Russia.
