Retired Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, a former chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, will hold a conversation with Fordham University MBA students during a visit to the Lincoln Center campus on February 24, 2017.
Pace, a distinguished visiting scholar at Fordham in 2010 and 2011, served as chairman of the joint chiefs from 2005 to 2007 under President George W. Bush. He was the first Marine to hold that position.
The general has local roots, born in Brooklyn and raised in Teaneck, N.J. A 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Pace served in Vietnam and several other overseas posts.
Pace believes that the basic principles of good business and the military overlap.
“The fundamentals — growing where you’re planted, making decisions, having a moral compass, having courage, not necessarily physical courage, but intellectual courage — all those things translate exactly,” he said during a 2012 appearance at Fordham.
The event is organized by the Gabelli School of Business.
