Join us for this month’s edition of the Gabelli School Speaker Series, the business school’s monthly lecture series that welcomes visionaries, thought leaders, and executives from many corners of the business world to campus.
Our March speaker will be Dave Temkin, vice president of network strategy and architecture at Netflix. Moderated by Juvoni Beckford, GABELLI ’13, this conversation will focus on Temkin’s role within Netflix, where he is responsible for the network architecture and interconnection of the Netflix global content delivery network, and the future of video streaming.

David Temkin is responsible for the network architecture and interconnection of the Netflix global content delivery network. He has also held the position of Director of IP Product Development and Engineering at Telx. He was responsible for all Layer 2 & 3 product architecture, design, and deployment across the Telx portfolio of data centers. Previously, he spent time at Yahoo! as the Layer 4-7 Network Architect, responsible for network load balancing. He also designed and built out the global network for Right Media, an online ad serving startup that was later acquired by Yahoo!. He also serves on the NANOG Board of Directors as well as Children of Bellevue and is active in the NANOG and RIPE communities.
David is tasked with designing and building the Netflix Open Connect Content Delivery Network and he oversees the team responsible for designing, deploying, and operating terabits of network and server capacity to deliver movies and TV shows to nearly 100 million customers.
Juvoni Beckford is a Software Engineer at Lifion, which is the R&D company by ADP, building the next generation of HR tools and a platform envisioned to be the “operation system” of HR. Prior to that, he worked at American Express on the core team that rebuilt and launched the new americanexpress.com experience used by millions of amex cardmembers. Juvoni’s core passion is the art of learning, having taught himself design and how to code, while acquiring a business education at Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business. Following the theme of learning and growth, Juvoni organizes one of NY’s largest personal development communities called Personal Development Nerds. He also runs a blog at juvoni.com and writes about a disciplined approach to growth by developing a system and habit oriented lifestyle for lifelong learning and self-improvement. In addition, he curates books, technologies, mental models, mindsets and cognitive biases for smarter and more self-aware living.
