Join the Fordham Foundry this Wednesday for a discussion about how Venture Capitalists make their investment decisions. The article, “Bet on the Jockeys Not the Horses” was recently published by Paul Gompers from the Harvard Business School. Professor Gompers research was based on a survey of 885 institutional VC’s at 681 firms and shows that many VCs consider the management team, especially the founder(s), to be the most important factor considered when making an investment decision — even more important than the business idea being pitched!
When assessing the management team, VC’s factor in ability, industry experience, passion, teamwork and entrepreneurial experience, often in that order. We sometimes think that the idea is the most important thing, but Professor Gompers research may suggest otherwise!
Join our Entrepreneurs in Residence, Shaun Johnson and Al Bartosic, and Professor Milton Sussberg as well as members of the Foundry and the Fordham Entrepreneurship Society for what is sure to be a lively discussion!
Pizza will be served!
